Here is an example of a drainage problem in Denver on Larimer Street that we are currently working on.  This backyard lot has experienced torrential flooding in the past.  Our civil engineer is working on different solutions to divert the water away from the structure, while remaining conscious of neighboring properties. Don King has been fixing drainage problems in Colorado for 32 years, and we have a very experienced drainage staff.  If you have any drainage problems, please keep Don King Landscaping in mind!

If you have extra Flagstone lying around, we can make it into a thing of beauty at a price you can afford. If you are looking for low maintenance plants and something that looks nice try choosing plants that do not need a lot of watering and pruning, like flowering shrubs or dwarf evergreens.  Xeriscaped plants, fabric and mulch, weed barrier and a drip system will completely eliminate any weeds and create a very low maintenance, low water garden.  Gentle flowing curves incorporated into the design of the xeriscaped garden are always nice, especially if you have a lawn right next to it that requires mowing. Flagstone or block borders utilized along the curve also add interest and personality to your garden!

If you have a steep slope in your yard that is making it very difficult to water and mow, a retaining wall is a very practical and beautiful solution.  This can cut down on grass (meaning less watering and time mowing) and make your yard look larger and more beautiful.  Here is a picture of a retaining wall we put in the front yard that made the whole place look so much better and added value to the home.

Now that Summer is officially here and we are heading into some hot weather, you have to be aware of fire blight on your fruit trees.  Make sure that you’re giving them extra water during these very hot days.

Right now is a good time to be pruning back your shrubs if you haven’t yet.  This will help to encourage new growth in the shrubs and keep them looking healthy.
