Spring is almost here, and we’ve been staying very busy. This week our masons completed a beautiful New Mexico Buff sandstone patio and walkway and we installed a new hot tub for one of our clients in Erie. Below are photos of the completed patio and the hot tub installation. Another happy client for Don King Landscaping!

This week, we’re working on a deck restoration for a client in Louisville, CO. We’re using a locally produced wood treatment that helps to condition the red wood deck and protects the wood from the intense Colorado sun. Pictures coming soon!

Well, I can’t speak for everyone but I’ll say that we sure are ready for spring over here at Don King Landscaping. We’ve been gearing up and warming up our pencils for the season and it’s looking like it’s going to be a great one. Its snowing again, but Don King Landscaping and our masonry team has been very busy! We’re installing a stunning outdoor fireplace and sitting wall in South Boulder. The project, which is an add-on to an original Don King Landscape, includes a cobble and sandstone sitting wall and a high-quality outdoor fire pit unit from ‘Warming Trends’. In addition to the fire pit, we’re also installing some elegant and tasteful landscape uplighting and downlighting that will highlight featured plants and hardscape elements in the garden. More to come from this beautiful project!

Another busy week with Don King Landscaping! It may be late January but we’re still working hard and gearing up for the spring! We have completed the fish pond enhancements at our project in Louisville. Our water feature biologist has recommended us for a water garden award! Check out the photo’s below to see the final construction.

January 19, 2010 Tip of the Week

It may seem as though we’re in the depths of winter and there is not a plant or creature stirring, but that’s not true! Under the snow and grass and mulch microbes are working away in the ecosystem we call soil. Now, is the perfect time to add compost and manure to your planting beds and vegetable gardens to allow time to leech out any residual ammonia and to allow the soil microbes the chance to begin working with the new amendments to create the rich earth your plants crave.

January 12, 2010-Water feature restoration and improvement

Well, it may be January but that does not deter us from tackling a water feature! We’ve been appointed to restore and improve a series of water features in a sub-division in Louisville. Here you can see our guys working on cleaning and restoring one of the concrete ponds.

Pond Clean Out

Below is a design that Senior Landscape Designer, Alex Wells, created to improve the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the same pond. The design will help to slow down the flow of water from the waterfall to the pond intake and improve water quality. The proposed plantings will help to filter sediment from the water and will create a new habitat for local flora and fauna! This one is going to be beautiful!
